Case Study I: Fixing a Failed Handheld Deployment
 A large pharmaceutical company deployed 8,000 iPAQs to its field sales force. Several initiatives were incorporated into the rollout, including the introduction of new laptop software and a custom application for the iPAQ. Training was conducted by the software development vendor over a four-day period and included an introduction to the iPAQ.
Four months into the deployment, usage rates were calculated. Approximately 24% of the field reps were using the device, and a mere 8% were using the custom application.
Eagle was hired to assess the situation. We presented a two-part training plan:
- Train the users on the device
- Then introduce the custom application
The usage results after three months of Eagle training are shown above. Usage rates for both the device and the application rose to over 90%.
